Mount Airy Lions Club Mount Airy, Maryland District 22W “Promoting citizenship with an active interest in the welfare of the community”
The Mount Airy Lions Club membership is comprised of men and women of all ages and backgrounds who meet once per month on the third Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M. in the activities building of Prospect United Methodist Church, 5923 Woodville Rd, Mt Airy MD 21771. "Why should I be a LION?" First - it is fun to be a Lion. There is a lot of fellowship to enjoy and new friends to make..Secondly - we think it takes the type of person who simply wants to help others less fortunate than themselves. You don't need to be wealthy to be a Lion... just a person willing to find a few hours a year to help others. Lionism comes from the heart..it is not a fraternal organization with a clubhouse and bar, requiring secret knocks at the door with special passwords or handshakes or learning a special ritual to be a member. We are simply a service club and "service" means you might have to work. As a member of a Lions Club you get to enjoy that special satisfaction in your heart when a child whose parents can't afford a pair of glasses is able to see the blackboard and their school grades go from D's to A's. Or watching a blind person regaining the freedom of movement that a leader dog provides, or perhaps hearing a single mother with small children saying, "Thank you so very much, I didn't know who to turn to for help, God bless the Lions Club" when you drop off a months supply of food in a kitchen bare of food. If that doesn't touch something inside of your soul then don't join the Lions. However - if it does, then please let us know. Click on the Contact Us button so we can invite you to a meeting.

PRESS RELEASE:  The current situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) is dynamic and uncertain.  What is certain is the DC area now has confirmed cases of COVID-19.  The Center for Disease Control suggests the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.  The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person and that people should avoid large gatherings.  The Mt Airy Lion’s Club is committed to the health and wellbeing of its members, its volunteers and the community we serve.  To that end, The Mt Airy Lion’s Club is canceling two events: the Easter egg hunt that was scheduled on Sunday, April 5 (Canceled) and the city-wide yard sale that was scheduled on Saturday, April 25 (Canceled).  The MALC is working to reimburse the vendors that committed to our Spring yard sale.  Please be patient with our response time; we will do our best be accurate and timely.  The next city-wide yard sale is scheduled for Saturday, September 26  www.mtairylions.com - serving the local community since 1940.
